Brief: Create a visually arresting development of five townhouses, each with a comfortable, modern and well-planned layout. Each townhouse to have three bedrooms and two bathrooms, complete with high-quality finishes. Interior spaces should feel spacious, airy and light. Include energy-efficient features.
This development consists of two single-level, and three double-storey townhouses.
The entrances to the two-storey townhouses contain a double-height void with uninterrupted double-height glazing. These, combined with the expansive glazing and oversized doors to the living areas, utilise natural light to create seamless indoor/outdoor living. The open-plan kitchens flow onto the dining and living areas which flow out into the outdoor deck or tiled terrace for entertaining.
The façade is a combination of crisp white large expanse walls, brick feature walls and a timber-look aluminium cladding, all selected for their durability and low maintenance. The cladding will retain its deep colour over time and not turn grey like natural timber.
The townhouses have rainwater tanks that service the toilets, laundry and gardens. Passive cooling techniques were employed by positioning electrically operable windows to release heat out of the building when opened.
